My trips to the Dyno

 September 28, 2004(UPDATED!):

First off I want to thank a few people:

The guys down at Victor Research
Andy- for being my ic spray cool down beotch. whattttttttttttttt
Aaron- for doing a great job at tuning as always
Shawn- for the misc stuff I always bug him for last minute (find that spark plug cover lol)

Well headed over to the dyno last night to get the car fine tuned before the event on Friday.

We decided to give her a decent street tune because as of now Ive been pretty rich and the car seemed to knock. Before we went the only change I made prior to the last dyno visit was the eprom chip. I tossed a new one with the same settings as the previous one except the new chip had a higher studder box rpm.

I dont have the dyno charts scanned yet but they will be up later later tonight when I get in. After some work the car put down 375whp on 93 pump gas at 20 lbs of boost. I think it had more in it but it was time to move on to race gas due to time restraints.

Fist pull on the dyno was around where I was when I went to the shootout in OH. (435WHP) The A/F was pig rich and off the charts. After some tuning the car was able to click off a 447whp. Aaron wasn't satisfied with that nor was Andy and I. After a 10 minute cool down it was time to rip it again.

Bam 451.4whp/391wtq @ 27lbs of boost. So of course we had to give it one more shot see if I could back it up. After another cool down period the car put down 451.3whp with nearly identical TQ. I knew the car was definitely a 450hp car. Its nice to have the dyno sheet to back it up now.

That will pretty much wrap up my Dyno trips this season.  Look forward to a new bottom end maybe a 3065 turbo.  Will see how it all pans out though.

May 20, 2004:

My best HP numbers prior to May 20 was 339whp.  That was on the first pull.  After the first pull my car kept boost creeping and we couldnt get anymore pulls in.  A week later I blew my head gasket.  Apparently the gasket wasnt a good gasket and the head was not torqued down enough. My t-belt was also off 4 teeth so I guess I was running on borrowed time.  Anyway some headwork, cams, and other stuff I hit the dyno on Thursday.  Here is the new graph:

431whp/377tq @ 25psi. On the next pull the cheapo gm maf coupler burst which I would have had on tape had my tape not be screwed. Im aiming for mid to low 11's this season. Wish me luck.

October 3, 2003:

I did go to the dyno on October 2 however it was a very bad experience where my FMIC had a huge leak and we were unable to fully tune the car.  I only put down 294awhp but was lucky enough to be able to run the car at the racing event on the 3rd.

There will be much better results in 2004.

June 17, 2003:

Well headed up to Pruven Performance on 6-17-03 to have my car dynoed and tuned since it was running pretty rich and I wanted to know what my current setup (Big 16g without a FMIC but with the MKIV Sidemount) was putting down.

Started off with a base run which was this (93 Octane, no race gas. I will wait till drag day for that):

222 awhp and 230.5 torque. I wasn't surprised cause the car was running scary rich. 17.5 across the board.... after a few pulls Fred did a great job and got the final numbers of 264.5 awhp and 297.3 torque. A 67 increase in torque.

Here was my Air Fuel prior to tuning. Very scary. I wasn't able to get an after print out but its still rich but just right.

I was pleased as I was looking for over 300 to the crank and I definitely accomplished that. So thats it for now. Next year hoping for bigger but now I'm just going to have fun with it and see what I can pull off at the track. If you want to see the best runs you can check them out:

Best pull of the day
